Leibniz-Auszubildendenpreis geht nach Halle (Saale), ins Saarland und nach Frankfurt am Main

Die Leibniz-Gemeinschaft hat ihren Auszubildenden-Preis 2023 an einen Biologiela­boranten aus Halle (Saale), eine Hauswirtschafterin aus Wadern im Saarland sowie eine Technische Assistentin für naturkundliche Museen und Forschungsinstitute aus Frankfurt am Main verliehen. [...] Lara Angel (20) wurde am Schloss Dagstuhl – Leibniz-Zentrum für Informatik (LZI) im saarländischen Wadern zur Hauswirtschafterin ausgebildet. In ihrer Abschlussprüfung er­zielte sie trotz einer um ein Jahr verkürzten Ausbildungszeit das beste Gesamtergebnis 2023 im Saarland. Im Landesleistungswettbewerb für Auszubildende in der Hauswirt­schaft belegte sie den ersten Platz und gewann den Teampreis. Bei der Deutschen Junio­renmeisterschaft Hauswirtschaft 2023 landete Lara Angel auf dem vierten Platz. Lara Angel engagiert sich seit vielen Jahren ehrenamtlich als Jugendtrainerin der Laufab­teilung der Lauf- & Triathlonfreunde Theeltal und bringt ihre in der Ausbildung erwor­benen Kenntnisse regelmäßig bei Veranstaltungen auf Vereinsebene in ihrem Heimatort ein. Im Anschluss an die Berufsausbildung am LZI hat Lara Angel ein Studium der Oecotrophologie an der Hochschule Fulda aufgenommen. [...]

Boudewijn Haverkort elected Chairman of the Dagstuhl Publishing Advisory Board

In the field of academic publishing, innovation and adaptability are crucial for success. Dagstuhl Publishing, the publishing house of Schloss Dagstuhl - Leibniz Center for Informatics, looks back on a still short but very successful history in academic publishing. The first volume in its largest and most successful series, LIPIcs, was published 15 years ago. In order to meet the growing demands in the field of Open Access, but also Open Science in general, an independent advisory board for the publishing house was founded at the beginning of the year on the recommendation of the institute's scientific advisory board. At the end of October, Prof. Dr. Boudewijn Haverkort was elected as the new chair of the Dagstuhl Publishing Advisory Board.

Dataset publications in dblp

Datasets and other research artifacts are a major topic in the scientific community in the recent years. Many ongoing projects focus on improving the standardization, publication and citation of these artifacts. Currently, the dblp team is involved in three of them: NFDI4DataScience, NFDIxCS, and Unknown Data. As part of these projects, we are happy to announce that datasets and artifacts have now been added as true “first-class citizens” to dblp, just like any other research contribution.
